live platinum 5.1 to stereo is a no go

i plugged the red and white rca jacks into the 1 and 2 ports on the sc. then i plugged the rca cable into my stereo in the appropiate places. i set the mixer to 4 speaker and i still hear nothing in my stereo. am i missing something....

IF I'm reading this correctly, you are trying to insert RCA cables into the 3.5mm stereo jacks on the sound card. That won't work at all. You need to buy 3.5mm plug to dual RCA plug cables, 3 if you have an analog 5.1 system or 2 for a 4-speaker system, or 1 for a 2-speaker system. See the manual for what plugs to use for each connection.

what only plug it into the #1 jack in the card? but the 1 & 2 are for 4 speaker systems i thought

The red and white RCA inputs on your stereo are for left and right channels. Unless you have a receiver that takes discrete inputs for each channel (a dolby digital READY receiver, for example) you won't get 4 channel sound out of it, at least not true 4 channel. Do as the previous poster instructed and buy a mini (3.5mm) to 2 RCA adapter and plug the mini end into your soundcard.
