Local area network doesnt have a valid ip configuration windows 7 32b

i get this error when using the ethernet cable to get internet from my laptop to my pc

if you are connecting the PC directly to the laptop, you might need to use a cross-over cable

do you have ICS (internet connection sharing) setup on the laptop?

yes, i didnt have this problem on my old pc which used windows XP, now am using windows 7 on a new motherboard and its not working well
