Im getting really bored of playing rubbish games on my laptop, or trying to play good ones at low framerates.

Can anyone recommend a game that fits into these criteria:
- Doesn't require high end equipment to play
- Has a good storyline
- Isn't too short

Thanks!

BTW: My laptop specs are: Intel i3 M370, Intel HD Graphics, 4GB Ram

Thanks everyone for such speedy replies!!!

Assassins creed doesnt run on my pc, i tried before.

I'll give all your suggestions a go over the next few days and see what I like/don't like.

Thanks all for your ideas and replying so quick!

Also what is the storyline of prototype and half life

Dragon Age Origins runs on relatively weak hardware (it's from 2009), epic story, epic characters, typically lasts around 40 hours if you do some of the side quests and talk to people.

Dark Souls 2 will run on a potato (A GT 640 holds ultra settings), looks very nice from an artistic standpoint, lasts ~80 hours or so. I love the minimalist approach, but you should be aware it doesn't have much of a story in the typical sense. It's more like Shadow of the Colossus or Ico in that regard.

Enslaved Odyssey To The West also runs on weak hardware and looks nice. Also a good story and good characters. I like the gameplay. It is kind short though, it took me ~10 hours to beat on normal difficulty. But, as a positive, when you finish the game once you get to keep your upgrades starting a new game.

If your PC can't run those even on low settings, then idk... That's getting into 8-bit or really old games as options.

There's still Morrowind (Steam). Or Red Faction 1 (Steam). Or Project Eden (GOG). Those are good games that'll run on literally anything at good settings now, being from 2002-ish. Games typically didn't have very well developed stories in 2002 though...

Ehm... Not really like Skyrim.

There's a land called Ferelden, and occasionally a darkspawn horde comes up from underground, lead by an arch demon. An order or warriors called the Grey Wardens were formed to fight the darkspawn and kill the arch demon centuries ago, but since then everyone forgot about the threat of the darkspawn and nobody cares about the Grey Wardens anymore. When a new arch demon appears and leads the darkspawn to the surface, nobody is prepared and the Grey Wardens start dropping like flies. Various rich nobles use the crisis to try to advance their political careers, while the player and party members you gather manage a triple-sided conflict between the Grey Wardens, the warring human factions, and the darkspawn. That's the setup of the first ~2 hours of the game.

The player starts the game by choosing an origin story; it determines your history and how you start the game, as well as dialogue throughout the game. Once that's done you get recruited into the Grey Wardens and start to follow the story, gathering party members and allies with their own backstories and quests attached to help in the fight.

In terms of gameplay, it's more a mix of point and click strategy and action based squad management? I'd suggest Youtube videos, but bear in mind they won't offer the context of the story or characters.

i don't know a lot about hf , but about prototype i know :3
it is a tps action game , u get kidnapped by some government division , and they do some freaky things and u forget your memory but also u will get super powers , u will force people that have that had the same s**t that u did , it is not so famous , but it's fun , u can change your shape to any one in the city , which is funny sometimes 😀

Well, I've played Prototype and Half Life.

Prototype - Guy gets abducted by a part of the government known as Blackwatch. They perform experiments on several people, turning them into infected creatures capable of reconfiguring their bodies. You have amnesia, so the game is partially about recovering your memory and partially about stopping an infection thing from overrunning a city. The story is pretty weak really, but it's open world and there's a lot of chaos. I don't know how well it runs since I only played it on the PS3.

Half Life - Guy is working in an underground research lab called Black Mesa. They accidentally tear open a portal to the 'far side' or some location, and odd creatures overrun Black Mesa. It's a shooter, so naturally the correct response is to shoot everything in the face with a variety of weapons until it stops moving. Since it's an older shooter, there's also an emphasis on simple puzzles. There's involvement from a facist interdimensional empire of sorts, known as the Combine. And in the later game(s), it moves far past Black Mesa and focuses instead on human survivors' efforts to kill a lot of alien creatures and Combine soldiers. Half Life 3 hasn't released yet, by the way. The story is quite good for a shooter... Not so good compared to non-shooters.
