Hi, I'm new to RPG's and am looking for a great fantasy type one. Something where you go on quests, etc. I've played Fable I & II on Xbox, but I'm looking for something on PC now. I was thinking about Fable 3, but I'm hesitant to buy it as I've heard mixed reviews about it. Also, I'm using keyboard and mouse, so I need it to be a game that's controls work well with KB and M.

Sweet, and the combat system with DAO works well with a mouse? Or would it be better to have a 360 controller?

I'd suggest The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (older, worse graphics, better atmosphere and lore) or The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (newer, less buggy, more mainstream) as two excellent RPGs. They're much more expansive than DA:O and they're a lot more dynamic. Whereas in DA:O you have set quests and "no go" areas, Oblivion is one large living breathing world with very little barriers. It's possibly less polished than Da:O, but often regarded as one of the best RPGs ever made. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed DA:O, but I think from an RPG point of view, especially for someone just starting PC Gaming, Oblivion would be your best bet :) it'll blow your mind (hopefully.)

Good luck, have fun with whatever you choose :)

I prefer the mouse and keyboard due to the many hotkeys you can assign.I usually use up to 6 abilities one after another so a 360 controller would be a bit of a hassle. As far as Oblivion goes,DA:O has a better story but Oblivion as mentioned is much more open.I personally enjoyed DAO more though as Oblivion needed a big time investment to get into and I didn't have much time.

Fable 3 is a good game, it doesn't have much mixed reviews, almost all of them are good.

AND: What's with the big 😱 for O ?

if you want to go old school try the Baldur's Gate Saga, u can get it at GOG both the original and then part 2 for $20. What I like about these games are that you can transfer your character from one game to the next. It also has a very good story line and you're not just leveling up 1 character but several.
There is also the Ice Wind Dale Series as well which is about the same but less depth that Baldur's Gate....Enjoy!

It's because we all write it;

Which creates the smiley :O

Irritating or what? 😛ff:

To reply to your comment about Fable 3, it does have good reviews, yet I can say that from my personal opinion (not that it's greatly valuable, but still...) Oblivion is far better :)

yeah, I feel its quite irritating and quite funny at the same time. I didn't like Oblivion much. Maybe its the combat. I felt it too bad. As for the other things in Oblivion, loved it.

The vanilla combat is poor. That said, you could mod it, or you could just deal with it, enjoying the other aspects of the game for the next few months until Skyrim! 😀

Hehe, TES is sick no matter what the shortcomings :)

Risen is another good RPG that I haven't seen mentioned. It's made by Piranha Bytes so I've heard it called the "real" Gothic 4 as opposed to Arcania. Divinity 2: The Dragon Knight Saga is an excellent game as well. Tons of value in that one since you get a remastered Divinity 2 plus the expansion for $40. I wouldn't even bother with Fable 3. It is extremely easy and therefore rather dull.

Qft = Quoted for truth = I agree/believe you/you're totally correct :) sorry if that appeared sarcastic, but it actually wasn't.

aw yeah baldurs gate the tons of hours for the expansions, icewind dale, arcanum, diablo 1, 2, and the expansion, star wars kotor, gothic, oblivion and elder scrolls, fable 3, fallout new vegas, fallout 2, fallout tactics,"such an awesome game, planescape torment, i mean i played everyone for hours and hours, and theres still more in the back of my mind, i just cant bring it up to type lol

I haven't played fantasy RPGs in a while... The best one was Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. Sure it's older than Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and the graphics are very dated, but the overall gameplay and storyline was far superior to Oblivion.

Maybe I'll pickup Dragon Age...

While Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas are not fantasy games, they are still very good RPGs. I prefer Fallout 3 to New Vegas.

Must try (old): Oblivion ,Morowind ,Ghotic 3 ,Two worlds ,The Witcher, Dragon age origins
Must try (new):Two worlds 2 ,The Witcher 2 ,Arcania, Dragon age 2
