I need to buy a couple of motherboards that will support the 478 P4 Prescott with the 1mb on chip cache, and 800mhz FSB. I would also like them to have support for the larger hard drives > 160 GigaByte. want to have ieee1394 and USB 2.0 as well would prefer 8X AGP slot and at least 3 pci slots, need to use 184pin DDR Ram.

Any one have any suggestions for the least expensive board that will support all these needs?

I don't know about cheapest, but the <A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-127-155&depa=1" target="_new">Abit IS7</A> is a very good one and has everything you are looking for.

I haven't bought one in a while, but every one I have used also came with gigabit ethernet even and not just the 10/100 advertised. That may have changed since then though. But I must say, these seem to be fast & stable mobos; well worth considering.

IS7 or MSI-NEO-PLS. Stick with the 865PE chipsets unless you can find a cheap 875 board. The 875's are finnickier with ram for sure.

Abit IS7 - 3.0C @ 3.6ghz - Mushkin PC4000 (2 X 512) - Sapphire 9800Pro - TT 420 watt Pure Power
Samsung 120gb ATA-100 - Maxtor 40gb ATA - 100
