I am looking at building a custom pc for a friend, and they say they are looking for at least 4 disk drives. If anyone has any recommendations for motherboards, cases, etc for this build, they would be greatly appreciated.

If you mean DVD/CD duplication, you're much better off with a dedicated duplicator.

If any of these are older PATA/IDE drives you'll have to get an older motherboard. There are quite a few that support PATA/IDE and SATA on the same motherboard but they were usually available during the period of transition from PATA to SATA.

One of my machines has 1 PATA/IDE port that will handle 2 IDE drives and 6 SATA II (3Gb/s) ports. It's an ASUS M4A78LT-M LE.

All modern motherboards support a minimum of 4 SATA III (6Gb/s) drives. You might have a problem locating anything with PATA/IDE and SATA III drives on the same board but if you need it you can find PATA to SATA converters that plug in between the motherboard and the drive.

My friend is looking to do a lot of cd and dvd burning, and has requested at least 4 optical drives. I'm just here to put together the build, but 8 gigs of ram and a few terabytes of hdd space coupled with a boot ssd is also a necessity for this build. Hope this helps.
