Looking for a video card upgrade capable of handling BF3 well

I built my computer in 2009 on a low budget. For the light gaming I did, it suited me extremely well. It contains an ATI Radeon HD 4650. Some of you are probably saying "Yikes!" but really, it has done me well. I'm not one to ask for anything massive, and I don't ask for massive framerates. Just playability :) However, Battlefield 3, the game I've been playing lately, does not run very efficiently on this card. I've had to turn the graphics down quite a bit, and I'd like to be able to play it with higher settings. Looking for an upgrade that is as cheap as possible.

My board is an Asus M3A78-EM. It has a PCI Express x16 slot. Two I've been looking at are the Radeon HD 7770 and the 7850. Does anyone know if either of these will run in a PCI Express x16 slot (not too sure how that works), or know of any better alternatives? 500 watt PSU

Let me know! Thanks!

you could go down to the 650ti but id sa keep it nvidia otherwise Radeon HD 7870 2gb...
bf3 is really a mid range game now that cards have come so far i would say go for the gtx 670 if your looking to run the game on high if that is the road you take check out a new psu as well unless yours is up to par

Wow I totally forgot to mention my PSU. It's a 500 watt. I'd love to run it on ultra, but most of all I just want to be able to get off the low settings and actually have a playable framerate when I'm playing on 64 player servers in an intense fight. Also, really looking for something cheap as possible here. Does that influence what you recommend, or still the gtx 670?

I'll check up on the pricing of the 670 tomorrow.

you could go down to the 650ti but id sa keep it nvidia otherwise Radeon HD 7870 2gb will also do the job on max settings with 50-60 fps
