So I'm going from an AMD FX-6300 to an I5-7600k with a b250 board and ddr4 ram. Plus I've thrown in a new power supply (explained below).

Some background info: Computer has had freezing problems since I built it 2 years ago and I could never figure out what it was. Narrowed it down to the cpu, mobo, or psu. I added this information to explain why I've thrown a new power supply into the mix.

So basically, I'm just looking for any feedback. Basically some reassurance that I'm spending my money somewhat wisely. Also I know you can't overclock with b250 boards. That doesn't bother me.

Update: Found a 450w PSU for $25. Not sure if 450w is enough to power my rig though. Since you're not going to over clock, you could buy the i5-7600. It comes with a stock Intel cooler. Then, you don't need the CoolMaster cooler and you'll save about $25. Put it towards 2 x 8GB RAM kit. Also, be sure to do a clean install of Windows on your SSD. Then, install mobo GPU drivers.

The 7600k is actually cheaper on amazon right now.. Did you read my post? I already have everything on the first list of parts. I'm only upgrading my motherboard, cpu, ram, and possibly psu.

Either of those Evga PSUs will be a downgrade in quality from the XFX you have now. Imho id get a Ryzen 5 1600 over the 7600k.

What is your reasoning for the ryzen over the 7600k? The price difference is miniscule and the benchmarks for the 7600k are much better. The ryzen would probably be the way to go if I was looking to stream a lot but that is not my plan.

Makes sense. Not sure what I'm gonna do now. what I don't like about your suggestion is the total price of the 3 components you listed.
