looking for good gaming desktop for 400-450$

I'm upgrading from a ddr2 setup that is like seven years old, I had a good gfx card( 7970 HD) but the ram and q8200 processor bottlenecked it terribly, I'm selling it, and would like to know what the best possible gaming PC for 400-450$ is

^Umm. He said $400-450. Is that USD? If you have a 7970 then keep it and get a low end AMD build.

It is really hard to build a pc in that price range, if you could increase your budget by 50$ this is a really solid build that will play most games on high and some on ultra and still get great fps

Whats the point of make him buy a GTX960 if he already have a 7970??? The 7970 is as fast (if not faster) than the GTX960. You just make it spend 200$ for nothing!!!

So personnally, if I was you, I would keep my 7970 and upgrade the others components!!! You can go with the built of the previous poster but keep the 200$ of the GTX960 in your Pocket and use your 7970.

I find the 430W PSU a little bit too "tight" for MY personal comfort. ;-) I would personally go for a higher-watt PSU. Probably something between 550-650W...

HD 7970 is nowhere near low end. Even the 7870 isn't low end. Also the HD 7970 outperforms a GTX 960.

This guys has probably limited knowledge about computer upgrade, otherwise he would not have asked for some advice... Consequently, he probably do not know/understand all the option that he have to solve his problem and consequently, disposed to believe what "experts" are telling him on computer forum... So telling him to buy this 960 without specifying that it would be a better idea of keeping his 7970 is not very "professional" in my point of view... This guys have a very tight budget, so 200$ is probably in this case, not "negligeable"...

Anyway, we are not here to argue against each other but to help ben2299!

So Ben, you can buy a 960, but now you have another option, which is to keep your 200$ in your pocket and use your 7970, which still is a pretty good GPU!!! That would be my recommendation...
