I'm looking for the quietest fan for an AMD ATHLON 3400+ socket 754 (2.4ghz). I do not intend to overclock it at all, but I don't want it to run hot/have any problems. I was looking at some coolers on newegg, specificaly the thermaltake silent boost, the Zalman aluminum/copper cooler, the Artic-Cooling silencer Ultra, and finally, the retial HSF. I couldn't find any information on how loud the retail HSF or the Artic-Cooling silencer was, but the Zalman is 18-27 db and the Thermaltake is 21 db. Does anybody know which of these coolers would be the quietest, or any other one I havent' heard of?

I've owned a number of zalman's products
And since your not gonna overclock i would advise you the zalmans 7000 series if you are gonna overclock gett the
new 77000 series (BIG ASS COOLER), If it fits on your mobo that is!
you can keep it on the lowest setting 18db and you wont hear it even if you put your ear right up to it
Check out the new L.E.D. one out now
If you need other quiet things
Powersupply, fans go with silenx products

in the low setting you cant hear it
even if you try
Like a totally silent room with your side case door open and your ear 2 inches away from the fan you wont hear it
yes i would think that it is at least as quiet as the artic cooling if not quieter

Wait so you want a hsf combo right? from what ive heard silenx is pretty good if you can afford the pricetag. 12-24 dba Zalman flower cooler 120 mm silenx fan built in pushes i think 44 cfm at lowest? but its 49.99. but definently check it out if your looking for that silent of a fan.
