I posted a question on here about a month ago about getting really bad frame lag when I play fortnite. It only happens when I’m in a build fight with someone in game, I can play creative and do everything just fine but when I’m in a game and I start fighting someone my frames drop from 120-140 to 50-70 and it gets really choppy. I tried every option that was recommended and after no avail members said the only thing else left is getting a new gpu. I have a i7 6700k with a GeForce gtx 950 super superclocked. My question is what card could I buy that will make fortnite playable again. My budget is $225. Thanks in advanced!

I've just got more concern about your "choppy" preformance emphasis. Even with settings lowered you should see a big difference in the choppiness. Like I said, check your temperatures of your hardware with hw monitor or other similar apps. If all checks out, then go bravely. I just know that the fortnite is that cpu heavy (but this case is unique, for you it would be gpu heavy since it's not ideal hardware). So I just want to make sure that you don't have a dust clog or thermal paste issue that is "adding" to the problem . Just check it out
Best card you can get for that budget would be the Force GTX 1660. It's isn't great value, but it's the fastest GPU you can fit in that budget. If you want good value, the 1650 Super is not too much slower than the 1660, and costs $20 less right now. However, the 1650 Super comes with 4 GB VRAM only, which might become a limitation in the future(even in a few current games it can be a problem). I'd suggest getting the 1660 for that reason.

P.S : for $5 over your budget ($230), you could get a 1660 super, which can be 10-20% faster than the 1660.

MY opinion is that you look into some kind cheap small 1660 super since it offers what you need and are good (Like a ASUS phoenix on B&H). And I'm guessing from the looks of it that GTX 950 is showing some age in the game.

Tried everything? Could you list your attempts?

No doubt the 950 is the likely cause, but you should rule out a few other things just in case.

Have you tried putting all of the graphical settings on minimum to see how your game play changes?

I have the 950 gtx super sc i7 6700k 1tb drive 500gb ssd which is what I have fort on I have 16 gb of ram a 144hz monitor I don’t have issues running games like csgo.

I tried reinstalling graphics drivers I make sure nothing is running when I’m playing, I reinstalled the game. I put fortnite on high priority I use 1600x900 res(native is 1920x1080) I have everything on low I have recording off and I have my 3d resolution on 50% my game graphics look like old school RuneScape but with all that I get maybe 10 more FPS when I get in fights and it’s really choppy and screen even freezes occasionally. I even went as far as overclocking cpu and gpu and to no avail. If there’s anything else you can recommend I would appreciate it!
