Looking to upgrade from my i5 6600k

I'm doing more things like simultaneous streaming + gaming. So I'm looking for a cpu can deliver better quality stream and keep performance. Also video rendering, I'm doing a lot lately and would like faster rendering times.

Budget isn't much of a factor, I have $200 of amazon gift cards and decided to use it on this.

Then what problems would I have by swapping CPU's? Will my PC hardware and software generally be fine?

How much could I sell the used i5 6600k for? Been using it for about 2 years.

It's the GA-Z170X-UD3 Ultra

You can go with an i7-7700k.....which is about the fastest for that MB.

You would have to change the BIOS from F2 to F20 if you don't already have F20 installed.

The 7700k would get you about 50% more processing power.

.....as far as what you could sell the old one for....go on EBay and see what they are selling for.

Finally got to check my BIOS version, it says "American Megatrends Inc. F22, 12/7/2016"
Is this OK for the new cpu?

When productivity is key RAM is important and 16GB is standard. The hyperthreading helps so that 7700K is a good change. Lastly switching from a HDD to a SSD will make a difference because the reading and writing speeds are significantly different, usually.

I have 16 gb of ram and two SSD's.

Keep your eyes on the temps.. The 7700K is known for running abnormally warm.
