Looking to upgrade this computer

Hey,

I decided that I'm going to upgrade my current computer, it's been about 3 years since I built it.

components:

1- i5 3470 cpu at stock fan and speed.

2- Ram , forgot the brand but I think it was corsair , 8GB DDR3 the frequency according to the speccy program is 665.1 MHZ.

3- P75-D3 motherboard from gigabyte.

4- AMD R280x from SAPPHIRE.

5- The hard disk is from seagate 1TB

I have about $930 but since I'll buy them from local stores lets cut this to $700-750 worst case.

I'm thinking to buy something that will last for another 3 years.

I might go for Amd cpu but I'm not sure , what do you guys think ?

IMO that CPU and GPU are still pretty good, i don't really see a need for upgrading. Are you having any issues with the games you are playing?

Anyways, in GTA V for example sometimes I get about 40 fps even though I'm not using any of the advanced graphic.

The second reason why I'm thinking about upgrading is because I usually do not have time to upgrade anything in my computer since I'm busy the whole year except for the summer which is near.

For CPU you won't need to change it yet, according to the test a 3rd gen i core is still good will only get like maybe 5 FPS increase if you upgrade to the 4th gen i cores

But with a R9 280x, you should be getting around 60 FPS at around 1080p, what resolution are you playing it at and have you update the driver recently, both Nvidia and AMD recently released drivers for GTA5 I believe.

I'm playing at 1080p resolution and yes I updated the driver to the beta version which was for gta v.

Your CPU, mobo, and GPU are fine. It wont be worth the money to upgrade those.

I would...
Get an SSD as your boot drive. Your mobo supports mSATA, so you have a choice of either an mSATA or SATAIII SSD drive.
Replace your memory with faster memory as your mobo supports up to DDR3-2200. Look for low CAS DDR3-2133 memory. 8GB is fine.
Consider getting a nicer/larger monitor with the extra money.
