After some research I found that my build will support the AMD Ryzen 4000 series when it comes out given the 4k series will be supported on the AM4 sockets. The question I have is - is this build tanky enough to support 3080Ti when it comes out later this year? So in effect - can the build support both Amd Ryzen 4000 and Nvidia GTX 3080 Ti?

This is the build I'm planning on assembling:

Every modern graphics card is both forward and backwards compatible with pcie 1/2/3...
The main difference will show up in performance using the very strongest of graphics cards, and that difference is in the low single percent.
Not anything to be concerned about.

Thanks for the responses. This is helpful!
To sum it up, the current build:

AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 3.8 GHz 12-Core Processor
Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Impact Mini DTX AM4 Motherboard
EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti 11 GB XC GAMING Video Card
Corsair AX 1000 W 80+ Titanium Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply

will scale up to Ryzen 4000 and GTX 3080Ti?

Unless gaming at low resolutions like 1080p it’s unlikely you will need to upgrade cpu or see any benefit if you do. That a bit of a guess but I wouldn’t immediately think a cpu upgrade will be needed.

dont you mean the other way around? Unless gaming at very high resolutions perhaps? either way - just looking for an affirmation on this "will my build scale up to Ryzen 4000 and GTX 3080Ti? "
Really looking for a yes/no answer to whether:
Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Impact Mini DTX AM4 Motherboard
mother board will support both
Ryzen 4000 and GTX 3080Ti

No, lower resolution means higher FPS. Higher FPS requires a stronger cpu. 60fps at 1080p and 4K takes about the same cpu usage in most games.

Thanks - :) I can glean from the conversation above what the answer is but to really set myself sturdy - YES/NO to this would be awesome!
