Hello everyone,

So I am slowly upgrading my current budget build that I had built a little while ago and am looking to upgrade the motherboard or see if it is even worth currently upgrading.

My current build is:
FX 8320 processor
MSI 970a-G46 Mobo
Zalman CNPS14X Cooler
R9 380 4gb graphics card
Corsair 750+ Bronze power supply
8gb memory
Raidmax Vortex mid tower.

I'm wondering if it would be worth upgrading to the FX 8350 processor and what would be a good mobo to go with it for around $150-$200?

I agree, If you want to upgrade you have two options.

Get an Intel CPU, this will obviously need a new Mobo etc.
Or
Get a better GPU, the fact that you have the R9 380, means you recently upgraded to that gfx card so might not want to replace it already.

The nice thing about upgrading your CPU will be that it will be a long term upgrade, and will be a couple years befor eyou will want to replace your cpu.
a GPU upgrade will need to be upgraded more frequently compared to a good CPU.

So, I was looking over everything and I think I can get the i5 4690k with the z97-a. Comes out to just about where I wanted to spend. But I'm wondering if it's worth getting the 4690k over the 4690? It's only a $20 difference.

im also thinking of doing the same but i have the fx 8350. problem is im sure i need 17 or more PCIe lanes
i know i should probably start a new thread but i never get really useful responses just tell me a CPU and mobo from intel to match please :)

You need to decide yourself if you going to overclock or not. The only difference between the 4690 and 4690k is that the K version is for overclocking.
If you are planning overclocking then you need the K, it not, it is a nice to have for the future.

In no way do you Need it.
