Greetings from Downunder
The notifiers that are installed as defaults with XP have vanished. Any
notifiers that I have installed separately, or as part of another programme
work fine. For example, when you boot up Windows you hear the chimes ... I
don't. When you make an error, you get a ping or note ... I don't. When you
get new mail you get a notifier ... I don't. Everything else, like CD's,
wav, avi files etc all work fine.
Using XP with SP 1 & 2, and Office XP,
All help always appreciated
/cj

Hi Mark
Thanks for your reply. I followed the link to "support.microsoft" and found
the entry in the root of HKEY_CURRENT_USER. The article told me to look for
a value in the right pane that looks like:- <No Name> :REG_SZ: What I found
under "Name" was: (Default) and under "Type" was REG_SZ. Anything to do with
changes in the Registry fills me with paranoia --so-- do I assume that this
is the same thing, and go ahead and remove it anyway? If I go into System
Tools | Restore and create a new Restore Point -- if anything should go
wrong could I go back to this and change things back to the way they were
/c
