lost new notepad file on right click

Hi

i seem to have lost the ability to right click New Notepad
there are others like winzip and Excel but Notepad has gone.

any ideas how to restore it?

Notepad opens ok with double click.

I've googled but not found a solution.

Make it the default program for .txt files again.

how?

double click on .txt flies open with notepad and file types show notepad.

problem is i cannot create a new .txt file from the normal New menu on right
click
