Loud noise when in-game?

My CPU has been having some over-heating problems, but recently now when I start a game up a loud grinding noise starts. This is instant. I can put a game on windowed mode and repeated minimize it and the sound will immediately go away.

It's a fan, easy right? Well I have HWmonitor on and when the noise starts I don't see any fans spinning faster. And how could this noise start and go away literally within a second of opening a game and closing it? (It is coming from inside the case)

AMD FX - 8150
GTX 970
8 GB
EVO SSD
750W PSU

Thank you for any suggestions!

That's very normal. The AMD FX Processors, especially the 8120-8350 run LOUD on their stock coolers. AMD uses smaller fans while Intel uses larger fans, and you can hear the difference. If the noise bothers you go for an aftermarket CPU cooler, and that will most likely fix your problem depending on how much you spend. I suggest opening the case and while your running a game stopping a few of the fans with your fingers. That way you will be able to tell which fan is the problem. If it's the video card fans, that would be surprising, because those 970's run cool and quiet. the 8150 is louder than a jet when you play a CPU stressing game. Wish 'ya luck!
