Question Low CPU usage and stuttering, please help!

Everything began about a week ago while I was playing BF1 with some mates and suddenly I started experiencing quite frequent FPS drops and stuttering.

These stutters feel like everything is laggy and delayed.

I've read somewhere that this issue may be related to the new anti-cheat but kept experiencing the same issue on other games like MC etc...

Launched NVIDIAs FrameView and task manager to observe the values and saw that whenever the CPU usage drops below about 30% (30-35%) I'd get the same FPS drop that usually lasts for from a second to ten seconds. Also, while not having any shaders enabled my GPU usage hovers between 65-99% with 86 Degrees Celsius and my CPU around 40% usage (except the drops below 30%) with degrees of Celsius around 100. Also tried it with Jedi Survivor, same thing. However, although my FPS in League is low this weird stuttering does not occur while I play it.

Naturally I've updated everything and nothing is overclocked since I don't really know how to do it.

All these games were also installed on an SSD.

I have posted this on different places but sadly got no response, so any help is appreciated!

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

Can you state the make, model and SKU of your laptop?

Might be a good idea to see if your laptop is pending any BIOS updates. Following that, use DDU to remove all GPU drivers(intel, AMD and Nvidia) in Safe Mode, then manually install the latest GPU driver sourced from Nvidia's support page in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator.

Hey, thanks for the quick response but DDU option didn't work.

Laptop is Legion 5 Pro 16ITH6H and BIOS is up to date. Any other suggestions?

degrees of Celsius around 100
Most Intel CPUs start to thermal throttle and slow down at 100°C. Most laptop manufacturers set the throttling temperature slightly lower than the 100°C Intel recommended value.

The Nvidia GPU is also likely throttling. The Nvidia GPU throttling temperature is always lower than the CPU throttling temperature.

Have you ever opened up your laptop and blown out the dust? If that does not lower your temperatures then consider changing the thermal paste. Use Honeywell PTM 7950. Do not use some popular thermal paste that your local computer store recommends because they have a lot of it.
