Hello! I recently purchased a 2560x1440 Curved 144hrz Monitor and I have had FPS problems ever since.

When I play games like Far Cry 5, Black Ops 4 and Rainbow 6 Seige, I seem to get Low FPS within the games. I have been playing Black Ops 4 quite a bit and noticed big FPS changes when playing on this new monitor. I usually get 90 Fps when playing on Black Ops 4 but sometimes goes to 110 at best. It doesn' stay for long though. On Far Cry 5 it's even worse, playing on High Graphics Settings I get 70 fps and sometimes 90 - 100 but only for a split second, the same kind of thing for Rainbow 6. I don't know if it's because of my specs or Temperature. I've tried Overclocking and that seems to help only on some games. But not on games like Far Cry 5. The problem happens on pretty much all my games. Temperatures go up to 50 - 60 Degrees but I don't know if that's normal or not.

SPECS:
Processor - Intel(R) Corei7-7700 CPU @ 3.60 GHz 3.60GHz
16 GB RAM
GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1080 G1 Gaming 8GB
ASUS PRIME Z270-P Mother Board

I had a 1920x1080 60hrz Monitor and had no problems fps wise. But I wanted to get a new, more smooth monitor. That's when the fps dropped...

Please, can someone help me? It's really annoying to purchase a 144hrz monitor when my pc can't run any games at 144 fps. Please tell me how to fix this or if it's normal or not because it's confusing me a lot.
Is it my specs? Is it temperatures? Is it the settings that I am setting the games to?
I don't really know...

You were playing at 1920x1080, now you're at 2560x1440. Of course there will be an FPS drop. Set your resolution to 1920x1080, or consider getting a better GPU. Only top-level GPUs are able to produce 100+ FPS in games at 2560x1440

What would be a "top level" gpu? When I bought the monitor the technician said that the 1080p monitor was "too overkill" for my current gpu, recommending my current monitor. I get low VRAM usage in games but low fps... Shouldn't I get more fps if I have low VRAM usage in game?

What that technician meant, although did not specify, is that you're better of playing at higher resolution on a bigger screen at 60-100 FPS, than playing at 100+FPS on a 1080p 60Hz screen. Your monitor was technically limiting your GPU because it could only produce 60 frames per second.

The fact is you bumped up the resolution at which you're playing, so you get lower FPS.

The FPS you're getting are normal for GTX1080. 1080 is not enough to play latest titles at 2560x1440 on 'HIGH' setting with high FPS.

Also, When playing recent titles like Far Cry 5, the GPU usage in normally at 8-10% sometimes 16%. Is that a problem? Shouldn't it be higher?
My Cpu however, is at 50% most of the time when in game.
