Low FPS on laptop

I have an Asus N551VW laptop with an i7-6700HQ CPU and Geforce GTX 960m GPU.
Since 3 months, I have very low FPS. For example when I play Rocket League, I have 30-50fps max on very low settings. It runs PUBG on 25-30 fps max and Fortnite on 50-60fps max, all on the lowest settings.

Does anyone have an idea what could be wrong? I've tried some fps boosters like Razor Cortex and Afterburner but none of them helps.

I've checked my temps with the afternburner before and they were a little bit higher than they should be.
I've put my processor cores from 1 to 8 and it gave me like 10 more fps but still the fps is very low and unstable.

Check the Nvidia driver to make sure the games you are talking about actually run from the discrete GTX card and not the integrated Intel graphics.

There's an option in the drivers to specify which card you want to use for each installed game.

My wife's ROG laptop often has this issue and even Steam game updates sometime reset the settings we made earlier.

Good luck!
