I just built my new PC, with AMD fx-8350 and MSI geforce 970 on a asus m5a97 r2.
Still I only get like 30 fps on Wolfenstein on ULTRA and 30-40 on Day-Z when using all the settings for maximum FPS.
What's this all about? I buy a graphics card for almost 400 dollars and I can't max out the current games?

Solution
As stated before, It affects some people, not all. This may not even be your root cause though. It is either a hardware or driver issue, if you claim that this happens in all your games. I guess its hard to tell because there can be so many reasons for this and it could be something on your computer that we dont know about. New drivers came out today, update to those.

As for the chipset, just download the latest version for your mobo and install from there. Doesn't matter what you have right now.

Okay, I'm gonna try this out. Will report back later. Thanks for the help

So you have compared similar fps rates to benchmarks for different games, right? You say your're getting good frames, but make sure they are comparable to benchmarks.

As I said before, RAM is certainly not the issue. Check your CPU and GPU usage in each game and report back what they are. Granted, not all games use 100% of the power they are given, but it will be interesting to see what is being held back, if anything.

I can't wrap my head around why a singular game would be getting poor performance. Only thing I can think of is that the game is running insane settings and the others aren't, or that you're getting less than normal frames on all your games and you just don't know it.

Hey, I've tried some new games, Assassins Creed Unity, and there I got about 40-50 FPS in crowded areas, which is way too low for this setup. In Crysis 3 I get average 30-40 FPS. In Far Cry 3 I get an average of 45-50 FPS. So it's not a singular game anymore.

I made this video when I'm playing Far Cry 3 on max settings, in the video I monitor CPU and GPU usage and temperature. I don't really know how to interpret those numbers. Please help me out.

You have solid cpu/gpu usage. Assassins Creed Unity is very poorly optimized as well, and if you use FXAA only and everything else maxed out you should achieve 60fps. You can look up how to optimize that game.

Once again, check your BIOS is up to date and your AMD chipset is up to date. After that, download the Heaven benchmark and report back with your benchmarked results, including what quality you set it on.

I cant seem to install the AMD chipset drivers, after the installation the target folder is empty and I dont have the AMD catalyst center installed. Tried the drivers on the disc that came with the motherboard and also downloaded the latest version from AMD site. How can I check which chipset version I have?

So I was not able to check my chipset version because I can't figure out how to do it.
I used Heaven Benchmark, I did NOT turn on anti-aliasing. Here are the results. http://

The max GPU temperature was about 67 degrees.

Yes, Heaven is a benchmark for your entire system, and the i5 3570k is a higher quality CPU than your FX8350.

I think the scores are pretty close to what they should be. I'm going to refer you to this thread I started reading pertaining to people with usage issues on their new card. I will keep reading and hopefully there is an answer lying in one of these twelve pages.
-TL; DR other people have the same issue as you.

I've read that thread, but it'still not clear why the guy on youtube with the same setup as me("FaxerGamer") get really much more FPS in both crysis 3 and Wolfenstein. He has the same nvidia drivers as me aswell.

I've bought another 4 GB RAM 1600 MHz stick, so now I have 2x4 GB RAM sticks with the same brand. CPU-Z is showing DRAM 800 MHz so I guess the RAM's fine now. I have not changed the timings nor the voltage, should I do that? Also Aamir, I bought the parts from a hardware retailer.

i bought a $700 graphic card and i was really sad on the low FPS in game. but i went through it. i've search this problem for about a week.

my problem is the CPU is got way too high temp. that cause my FPS drops down.
so if you got high temp CPU get a new Thermal Paste and put it on your CPU.
Mine works- hope yours works too.

too many people say that " just update your driversssss .. " but did it all .. just make your CPU temp cool down
