i7 6700; GTX 1060 6Gb; 2x4:8Gb RAM(2400mhz, downclocked to 2133mhz for 6700; H110 MOBO
NVIDIA DRIVER 442.74

Lately i have been having performance issues with games; CSGO and Dota 2 are the only ones I tested 1920x1080p Max settings,

  • Dota 2 1920x1080 max settings = min 60, avg 90,max 125 FPS
  • i tried lowering settings for DOTA 2 but i still get the same fps
  • CSGO 1920x1080 max settings = min 90 avg 170 max 240 FPS
  • 4:3 1280x960 = still the same fps with max settings and lowest settings and 16:9
those are the FPS monitored by the game (CSGO NET_GRAPH) (DOTA NETWORK INFO)
BUT, when I tried to TURN ON MSI AFTERBURNER (DEFAULT SETTINGS, NO OC, ETC.) while playing; these are the FPS

  • DOTA 2 1920x1080 max settings = min 90, avg 120, max 200
  • lowest settings DOTA 2 = min 145 avg 180 max 250
  • CSGO 1920x1080 MAX SETTINGS = min 140, avg 170, max 250
  • lowest settings CSGO 1920x1080 = min 170, avg 200, max 280
  • CSGO 4:3 1280X960 MAX SETTINGS = min 140, avg 200 max 330
  • 4:3 1280x960 lowest settings = min 170, avg 200 max 330
now my question why is it that whyyy am i having low fps when not running MSI afterburner?
does anyone know how to solve this? I want to be able to play normally without running MSI afterburner

CPU USAGE 30-60%
GPU USAGE (DOTA2 WITH OR WITHOUT MSI AB) = 40-60%
GPU USAGE (CSGO WITH OR WITHOUT MSI AB) = 60-84%

Solution
Could be a bad driver. Or an afterburner setting you may have accidentally set. Try looking on something like HWMonitor to see if your GPU/CPU's clock speeds + GPU memory is any different with & without afterburner.
