Low gpu usage in crossfirex need help

Have you tried O.C.ing the CPU?

I used to have a Phenom ii x4 965 @ 3.8ghz and I found that it was bottlenecking my 6870 crossfire setup. If your 8120 is at stock clocks then that is most likely what is causing the poor GPU performance.

What is the make/model of your PSU?

yes i did overclocks the fx to 4Ghz the GPU usage are about the same 40 to 43% on both cards im using MSI Afterburner to monitor it
my power supply http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817152035 i also get stuttering in some games like mass effect 3 and Deus Ex Human Revolution

Im getting low GPU usage and FPS in crossfire with two 6870s im getting about 40% to 60% usage on both cards it happens most of my games but when i use 1 card it hits 99% i also tried re-installing drivers to see if it will help didn't work please help me with this.
games im getting low usage are The Witcher 2, Mafia II, Alan Wake, Saints Row The Third

sabertooth 990FX
amd phenom ii x2 555 unlocked to 4 cores at 4GHz
8GB RAM
6870 crossfirex
PC Power and Cooling Silencer Mk II 750W

your cpu is bottlenecking an amd dual core doesnt have enough grunt to cope propperly with a single 6870 unless its running or oc'd to 3.0ghz 2 of em will cause a 40% choke or even negative scaling in crossfire. remove 1 of the cards until you can move up to a quad core...
even if you have unlocked it theres still the question of cache. and this is probably whats causing the choke on the gpu side.
when you unlock the extra cores you effectively halve the cache thus end up with much less performance from it. this is most likely the reason for your woe's

the amd cpu of the moment is the 960t you get a full quad with everything it needs and will run them 2 gpu's sweetly. to be honest im a little shocked your current 1 doesnt but as i said it could be the cache... but a 960t has more of it and has 4 full cores. you may even be able to unlock the 960t to get a 6 core but after your experience with the dual unlocking i dont think you would bother.

anyways as you have already unlocked it, try overclocking it. if your overclock boots but you find the multiplyer has dropped and your pc is running at 1.2ghz or less(basically a lot less than it should be) it means the cores are unlocked but they are broken the end result is you never had 4 working cores anyway just a cpu that though it had 4 but was only able to use 2 or 3 of em... yes 4 can show up even if they dont work properly.

i always use the latest drivers but when on play a game like Saints Row The Third about 50% CPU load on all cores some with Mafia II, Alan Wake, but when i play Battlefield 3 i see 100% load on all cores and GPU usage are in the 90s% in ever game max out AA enabled everything

yes i played Alan Wake with the CPU as a phenom ii x2 555 4GHz CPU load was in the 90s% and 66% gpu load 40FPS its the same when its unlock to 4 cores. on 4 cores CPU load is about 50%
