I've done eveything from spyware and virus scans, to defragmentation, to
deleting internet files. I've notice my computer has been running extremely
slow the past few months. About 5x slower, actually. I still have 70GB left
in my hard drive. But what is causing my Pentium 4 2.8 Ghz and 512 MB RAM
computer to run like it has only half the power? Thanks for the help.

It could be legitimate programs running that are slowing things down, or it
could be a hardware issue.

Download a copy of Hijack This, run it, and post the results on one of the
forums that deals with that sort of thing (not here. No will will read it
here.)

There's a chance you might have spyware running that none of the programs
will catch. I had one like that here today. Had to go after it with a meat
cleaver and sledgehammer 🙂

Sounds like Malware could be the problem. Use ALL of these free sites to
do a check

I have 34 processes running. I ran the spyware scans listed (all which I
already had) and they just found tracking cookies. But HouseCall did find
something called ADW_APROPOS.O. Whether this will help significantly or not,
I'm not sure. But at least it did find something.
