Low Performance with i5 8600k & GTX 1060 6GB

Hello,

I recently upgraded my PC and made the jump to an i5 8600k to join my already upgraded graphics card (GTX 1060 6GB).

I've noticed that I'm not getting as good performance in games as I expected. For example with most settings on High I'm averaging about 45fps in Destiny 2, and 35fps in Realm Royale with settings on Low.

I really noticed this today when I found this video on YouTube where someone with the same specs is getting 150+fps in Realm when I jumped straight on and only got 35.

When I was getting these fps values nothing except for HWMonitor, Task Manager and the game were running. Also I've checked all drivers are up to date.

Any help?

'upgraded my PC'...from what?

So the MB/CPU/RAM and GPU were all potentially changed? (difficult to discern, all we know is the CPU and GPU are different...

But, changing lots of hardware leaves lots of driver issues...

Do a repair install (save data/programs/files, etc)

The things upgraded:
Motherboard (From Asus M5A79 Pro to GIGABYTE Z370P)
CPU (From AMD FX 6100 to Intel i5 8600k)
RAM (From DDR3 to DDR4)

Graphics card was upgraded just under a year and a half ago.

Would a repair install require the Product Key as I no longer have that 🙁

Anytime you change the motherboard, especially with such a drastic platform change, you need a clean ibstall. All those old drivers interfere with new drivers and effect your system in a very negative way when it comes to performance. Best bet is to use a USB drive and download all the latest drivers from the internet and use those with your clean install as well.
