This is the same criticism that the Virtual Boy suffered from. Yes, a big part of its appeal is the virtual reality aspect, but what's wrong with taking a step back on some titles and simply using it as a stereoscopic 3D display? Plat forming games make much more sense when you can judge distances correctly, something hard to do on a 2D monitor.
