Searching the web for help I come across a topic here and this guy seemed to know his stuff https://forums.tomshardware.com/members/raisonjohn.1751225/ so I thought I'd ask the community for a little help!

I bought two M.2 (This one) https://www.gigabyte.com/Solid-State-Drive/GIGABYTE-M2-PCIe-SSD-256GB#kf GIGABYTE M.2 PCIe SSD 256GB

I have the x470 gaming plus motherboard with 2 M.2 slots (This one) https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/X470-GAMING-PLUS/Overview

In the manual it explains this:

2 x M.2 ports (Key M)*:
M2_1 slot (from AMD processor) supports PCIe 3.0 x4 (AMD Ryzen 1st and 2nd Generation / Ryzen with Radeon Vega Graphics) or PCIe 3.0 x2 (AMD Athlon with Radeon Vega Graphics and A-series / Athlon X4 Processors) 2242/2260/2280/22110 storage devices
M2_2 slot (from AMD X470 Chipset) supports PCIe 2.0 x4 and SATA 6Gb/s 2242/2260/2280 storage devices

  • SATA1 port will be unavailable when installing SATA M.2 SSD in M2_2 slot.
  • PCI_E6 slot will be unavailable when installing PCIe M.2 SSD in M2_2 slot.

...My boot drive isn't in SATA 1 so that's fine and I don't use PCI slot 6 either but my issue is the M.2 doesn't show in the bios or Windows, I tried both slots and looked at the bios settings and don't see any options to enable the M.2, can anyone help? Do I have the wrong type of M.2 or am I missing something in the bios?

Thanks a lot,
ADDZ

When you boot up to your BIOS, do you see any drives available at all?

I have my OS SSD and 2 mechanic drives but under M.2 they are disabled
