I've been researching M.2, and I read that M.2 can be SATA or PCI Express. I know that x4 is typically the one most people go with for SSDs, but how do I know whether this M.2 interface is SATA or PCI Express? Here's what the page the motherboard I'm thinking about buying says:

1 x M.2 x4 Socket 3 *2, with M Key, type 2242/2260/2280/22110 storage devices support (both SATA & PCIE mode) *3
*2: Supports PCIE RAID configurations via onboard M.2 and PCIex16_3.
*3: M.2 shares SATA mode with SATA Express. Change this item before installing M.2 SATA devices.

ASUS Z170-PRO LGA 1151 Intel Z170 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

I'm confused because it says both. I never used a SSD before, and I'm going to build a new computer that uses one. Sorry for such a simple question, but I've read articles, done research, read forum posts, and I haven't found one that answers this question for me.
