i got a B450 Gaming X (https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/B450-Gaming-X-rev-10/sp#sp) and states:

1 x M.2 connector (Socket 3, M key, type 2242/2260/2280/22110 PCIe 3.0 x4/x2 SSD support)

a friend gave me a M+B SSD (specifically https://media.kingston.com/kingston/product/ktc-product-ssd-sa400m8-sa400m8240gb-1-zm-lg.jpg)

But it does not work. I looked around and found two answers that state it should work:

https://superuser.com/questions/1066540/connect-a-m-2-b-m-key-ssd-into-a-b-socket/1066545

Is there some setting I might be missing? I'm currently using latest bios too

Solution
Hi Kazuma20. You're having some bad luck here. Read below.

1 x M.2 connector (Socket 3, M key, type 2242/2260/2280/22110 PCIe 3.0 x4/x2 SSD support)

Your M.2 is a SATA M.2. The board only says "PCIe" M.2 and not SATA. On my board it says.

1 x M.2 connector (Socket 3, M key, type 2242/2260/2280/22110 SATA and PCIe 4.0 x4/x2 SSD support)

As you can see both are there when they are supported.

You cannot put that SATA M.2 on your board. You need a PCIe M.2

Here is the difference between both connectors.
