I bought a second M.2 SSD (Samsung 960 EVO) but when I moved the standoff from the middle screw to the first so my ssd would fit. i broke off the part where you need to screw in the standoff.. I now have a tiny hole in my MB (Asus z270 ROG Strix) is there any way to still fit the standoff and the screw so I can mount the ssd. This is the second m.2 i use in this pc so I cant just move it to the other m.2 slot.

Thanks in advance

That part broken from the motherboard is also called a stand off , but it is shorter . but anyways since it is soldered then you cant remove the other ones. you will need another standoff that can be mounted on the board using a nut or a screw from the other side of the board.

can you try to remove one of the other standoffs and mount it in that hole ? you wont need the nearer standoffs anyways.

if they are removable then your problem is solved without buying stand off spare parts. use the right tool for this , and try to unscrew one of the standoffs.

the are no other standoffs. these are the places i need to screw the standoffs into. I have the standoff on my table here but the part in my MB where the standoff screws in to is broken out so I litteraly have a hole where it needs to screw in.

there are , look at the motherboard pic you posted. there are 2242 and 2260 stand offs . the not broken ones.

Maybe this picture makes it clearer.

The things you see on the first picture are the same as the one that broke off.
They are soldered in place and should not come out. You then screw in the standoff and the standoff-screw

I know. you have 2 options , either get the lower standoff with a mounting nut , or glue it back. you can also mount a nut there using very short screw from the other side of the board and then screw the stand off as well . look in ebay for different nuts sizes and heights
