R5 3600
Asus prime b550
HP Rtx 3060ti
Crucial p3 plus 1tb
Corsair vengeance lpx 16gb ddr4
Corsair tx550m

This is my son's system and not long ago he started getting blue screens until the system just loaded into bios and stopped recognising the m.2 I troubleshooted and RMA'd the motherboard. They sent a new one however now I can't get it to work with an m.2 Installed. I can get in to bios with no storage devices however with an m.2 (tried multiple) installed I just get no signal on the monitor. To get the system to post again after trying an m.2 I have to clear CMOS.

Tried:
CSM is enabled,
ERP is set to S4+S5
No overclocking
All components work in other systems

Tried an older GPU and it posted. For some reason the b550 doesn't like the 3060.

How old is your PSU in this build?

Asus prime b550
Asus have a couple of B550 chipset motherboards under the prime series, which one do you have? If you're able to get into BIOS, what BIOS version are you currently on for your motherboard?

Speaking of motherboard's, were you given a like for like motherboard or was it an upgrade?

The PSU is just over 12 months old, the board is the m-k and I put the latest bios on when it arrived. Yes it's the same board as the one I rma'd.

Anyone got a clue? I RMA'd the board and it's fine. They sent me pictures of it working.
Can get to bios with no m.2 with both my GPU etc fans spin for a few seconds and then stop.
With m.2 installed I get no signal from Rtx 3060ti and no fan movement
With m.2 installed I get to bios with GTX 970 but m.2 not showing in boot lists.

No other drives installed
Tried reseating everything and moving the ram
Tried resetting bios
Memtest86 cleared the memory over four passes

I had the same problem two years ago with an Asus Prime X670-P WiFi and a Crucial CT1000P3SSD8. The Asus motherboard wouldn't recognise the Crucial drive.

In the end I gave up and moved the Crucial drive over to an old Gigabyte GA-Z97-D3H i7-4770K system where its been running for 53 days 15 hours total power on time.

In place of the Crucial, I fitted a Kingston SKC3000S1024G in the X670-P mobo.

On their own, the Asus motherboard and the Crucial SSD work fine. They just won't "play ball" together.
N.B. I update the BIOS on the Asus board whenever a new version is released.

I have the following 1TB M.2 NVMe drives currently in my Asus X670-P (7950X) system:

Drive #6 - KINGSTON SKC3000S1024G Windows 10 boot drive C:
Drive #7 - Samsung SSD 980 1TB [931 GB] Drives L: and E:
Drive #8 - Samsung SSD 980 PRO with Heatsink 1TB [931 GB] Drive K:

I could check my other Asus mobo with 3800X if necessary to see what M.2 drive is installed.

Solution: Buy a different manufacturer's SSD.

I've tried three different ssd's. Crucial, intel and western digital. All are the same.

Well that's very annoying (and that's putting it mildly).

This probably has nothing to do with your problem, but if they tested the board with different RAM, your Corsair Vengeance might be the cause. Did they show it working with an M.2 NVMe similar/identical to the drives you've tried?

I know you've run four successful passes with MemTest86 and I've seen your statement saying "no overclocking", but are you overclocking the RAM using XMP settings? How many sticks are installed?

Some people have problems with Ryzens and Vengeance. I'm really clutching at straws here, but if you have any other DDR4, trying swapping out the Corsair RAM. So saying, my 3800X runs fine with 4 x 16GB (64GB) Vengeance at 3000MT/s.
