Solution

The 860 EVO m.2 drive is SATA. Runs at the same speed as you're existing 850 EVO.
The 970 EVO is NVMe.

Different protocol, and the 970 EVO is "faster" for some uses.

Yes.

It has two M2 slots....one is PCIe and SATA and the other is PCIe.

The SSD 2.5" would connect to SATA.

The HDD connects to SATA.

...and the GPU goes to the PCIe x 16 slot

Thanks for the response,
Currently I’m using
CPU :- i7-7700k
Mobo :- Asus z270f
GPU :- 1070
HDD :- 1 TB WD green

This is mild level desktop for me

I got Samsung EVO 850 500GB SSD 2.5 in cheap price
So I was thinking to purchase another M.2 SSD for Operating system
This EVO 500 GB ssd for games and videos
And 1 TB for etc

But I’m confused how will I set up this ?

Will this M.2 ssd work for me ?
Samsung 970 Evo Series - 250GB PCIE NVME - M.2 Internal SSD (MZ-V7E250BW

Or I need something else ?

If it will work Then how do I set it up ?
I’m newbie into this
step by step guidance would be really appreciated

Please suggest

Yes, that will work.

https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/ROG-STRIX-Z270F-GAMING/specifications/
970 EVO for the OS and applications
The other drives for other things.

You need to be cognizant of which M.2 port you're using, and which, if any, SATA ports it might disable.

-------------------------
*2 The M.2_1 socket shares SATA_1 port when use M.2 SATA mode device. Adjust BIOS settings to use a SATA device.
*3 The M.2_2 socket shares SATA_56 ports when use M.2 PCIE mode device in X4 mode. Adjust BIOS settings to use SATA devices.
-------------------------

If you use the M.2_2 port, you can't use the SATA 5 & 6 ports

Thanks for the prompt response

Just to make sure the actually M.2 SSD that I’m going to Oder is below, please do check and confirm
Samsung 970 Evo Series - 250GB PCIE NVME - M.2 Internal SSD (MZ-V7E250BW) https://www.amazon.in/dp/B07BN5FJZQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_FYF2BbS8PK3DE

So as per my understanding I can use M.2_1 port for EVO 850 2.5 inch SSD which will disable Sata port 1

And

M.2_2 port for new EVO 970 M.2 250GB PCIE NVMe which wil disable sata port 5 & 6

Sata port 2,3,4 would be available for me to connect my another 1TB WD HDD ...

Is this correct ?

It should. It satisfies the specs.

Here is the path I would take.
I'm not going to list every detail because I'm short on time.

When you go to set it up...I would use the integrated graphics on the motherboard. Install the graphics card later.

Only install the M2 drive. Don't install the SSD, HDD or graphics card yet.

Then install Windows on the M2 drive.

Then install the SSD and the HDD.

Then install the graphics card.

Then install the graphics card driver.

The 2.5" 850 EVO will get connected to a motherboard SATA port.
Not the other m.2 port.

Motherboard ports 1-4 will be available.

And for the actual OS installation, as above.
Only have the 970 EVO connected when you do this.
Connect the other drives later.

Assuming Windows 10, this:
