I did all the quests as Magician and I ask for Warlock but the answer is
that my requirements are not high enough.
So the process stucked.
Any solution?

Increase your skills, either through use (a slow and painful process, as in
my experience magic skills improve much slower than figher skills) or
through training. There are several trainers in eacj magic guild.

Since Alchemy counts as guild-skill instead of Conjuration
it's quite easy to raise in MG-rank, when you use an exploit of
the barter system to get lots of ingredients:

Go to any merchant who sells unlimited cheap "Restore Fatigue"
ingredients like Saltrice bread, or Kwama Eggs

Buy everything he has, leave Dialogue talk to him again, he'll have
refreshed his stock. Buy everything he has, sell everything you have.
Next time you talk to him the number of ingredients will have doubled...

Repeat until he has a hundreds of ingredients then start to brew
Restore Fatigue potions. Repeat to brew potions, to raise your alchemy
skill, and make a small fortune by selling them...

Jochen

Please excuse if you already know this, but you can put the cursor over

Far easier just to buy LOTS of marshmerrow and saltrice and make a
couple of hundred restore health potions. As long as your intelligence
is high enough (and increasing your alchemy skill +10 will get it up
by 5 when you level - I've gone from 5 skill to 100 skill in this way)
you'll raise your alchemy skill in no time.

A good source of these items is in the Imperial Shrine immediately
downstairs from the Mage Guild in Sadrith Mora.

Increasing your mage skills should NOT be a slow and painful process.

For the various schools of magic, use the Spellmaker to create a "training"
spell that costs 1 magicka to cast. You want to make the spell weak and of
short duration, so it will wear off quickly and you can recast it. For
instance, for "Alteration Training," I use a 100-point Feather spell that
lasts for 3 seconds and costs 1 magicka to cast. Then, when I am ready to
train, I cast that spell repeatedly until I increase my Alteration skill as
many points as I need to at a particular level (never more than 10 per
level; don't waste it!). You should create such a training spell for each
of the six schools of magic.

Alchemy is also easy to increase: Buy (or find) a full set of alchemical
apparatus, get a large quantity of cheap ingredients and start creating
potions. Your Alchemy skill will increase AND you will have potions that
you can sell. Hint: Use anything you can to increase your Intelligence
temporarily before you start making potions; this will make them more
powerful if you want to use them yourself, or more valuable if you choose to
sell them. Use the Spellmaker to create an "Instant Genius" spell that
increases your Intelligence attribute by 100 points for 3 seconds. Also,
you might want to go to Sadrith Mora and solve the mystery of the Gateway
Haunting, which will give you a choice of three rings, one of which will
increase your Intelligence and Willpower by 10 to 20 points when used.

Cheap useful potions with easy-to-find ingredients: Restore Health
(Marshmerrow and Saltrice), Fortify Personality (Stoneflower Petals and
Kresh Fiber), Cure Disease (Chokeweed and Willow Anther), Cure Paralyzation
(Corkbulb and Willow Anther), Cure Poison (Rat Meat and Scrib Jelly), Water
Breathing (Luminous Russula and Hack-lo Leaf), Water Walking (Scales and
Violet Coprinus).

It is by "normal" use, ie. not the cheesy methods described below.
In my experience the only Magic skill that increases rapidly is Alchemy,
but that one increases way *too* rapidly, so I never have that skill as
Minor or Major anymore, as it makes my characters level too fast.

Cheese, cheese, cheese!!!
MW is much more fun without using such tactics.

Altertion has a great one point lock spell in Caldera. Combine it with lock
picks to open and you train two skills. Any chest etc. will do so long as
you aren't observed by the owner. Some of my characters also lock Caius in
his room. The lock skill is also useful before combat when those outside
the door will try to enter.

As long as you aren't observed by the owner? I've done this directly
in front of Caius and he didn't mind a bit.

"Cheesy methods"? That's kind of harsh. The Spellmaker exists in the game
to allow a clever player to create spells tailored to his skill and magicka
levels. That means powerful spells for practical use, and weaker spells for
training purposes. It makes a lot of sense to cast a 1-point spell 80 times
rather than an 8-point spell 10 times in order to improve your magical
skills. It's not cheating; it's just something that a clever player would
do.

By the way, I'm playing the Adventurers Total Conversion mod, which makes
the game much, much harder and triples the cost of buying training, among
other things. It makes me appreciate the ability to train myself in a skill
by using it.

Of course. Training makes perfect. You don't get to be an olympic fencer
unless you train the same riposte and thrust over and over and bloody
over again, for years. So why not go down to the mage guild shooting
range and thow 1 point fireballs for a while, or hone your potion
brewing skill in alchemy 101.
Send a raw recruit out to do a skilled man's work and (s)he'll get
scragged, almost every time. 🙂 My approach in life, and in role
playing. Of course, I don't play big stoopid brawler types ;-)
or even natural-born athletes for that matter.

You can also get to a point wher you talf to Trebonius and he offers you a
duel in the Arena, if you win you are the Arch Mage! ie top dog, same
happens in the fighters guild with the Vivec Guild Master except he just
attacks!

I also use some plug ins that sort out levelling issues I had (thanks to
Galsia at MWsummit!). Also use a couple of trader mods that allow traders
that can buy all the expensive items, save heaps of time and gets lots of
cash for training!

Two comments:
(1) If by the point you get offered the duel you can't beat down
Trebonius in 2 or 3 blows you shouldn't be there
(2) There is an alternate non-violent route to archmage. You don't get
Trebonius' robe (which is a reasonable item in itself) but your
conscience is clear.

Speaking of the Telvanni spy - does anyone have any experience of what
might be the *downside* of dropping Ranis right in it and telling
Trebonious that *she's* the Telvanni spy?

Presumably you have to get your guild quests somewhere other than
Balmora - any other issues I should know about before ditching that
dodgy old witch?
