QUESTION:

how come some articles say that AMD 64 X2 is better than Intel's processors? and how come most of the ppl on this forum reccomend me intel?? *so confused* and which is better AMD 64 X2 4800+ OR Intel CORE 2 DUO .. :\

QUESTION:

how come some articles say that AMD 64 X2 is better than Intel's processors?
Because they're stuck in the past.

and how come most of the ppl on this forum reccomend me intel?? *so confused* and which is better AMD 64 X2 4800+ OR Intel CORE 2 DUO .. :\
Because we're all Intel fanbois.

Just kidding.

No, it's because the C2D really is a great processor, and at clock speeds of 2.13GHz and higher, it's definitely faster than an AMD X2 4800+.

Its quite simple. We are convinced by u/arch and benches.

Like evilr00t stated, magazines are never the place to look for up to date tech info on processors.

You are either reading old articles or very PRO AMD ones at that. Any half way smart AMD user knows that C2D is the best CPU out there now.

Ah you falling for the more Ghz is better shtick. The Xp is if I not mistaken more than 5 years old?
The Core 2 as you can see in the graphs that I provided destroy AMD's newest line up. The entrie line up beats either one or more AMD chip.
More Ghz isn't exactly the point.

I like that analogy.
With a car, not only the HP matters, but how it utilizes that power.
If you have a AWD, with 350bhp, it will outperform a similarly equipped car with 375bhp and RWD.
Same with CPU's. The XP's u/arch was much less efficient than the Core 2's.
Similarly, the Core 2 is dual core enabling it to outperform the XP in multithreaded apps and in multitasking.

ok i consulted my friend and we are going to change it to intel core 2 duo. Anyone got a mobo/cpu for under $ 500- Asus mobo and intel core 2 duo? pretty plz ^.^

yes redtiger has another thread, about the same as this one
that i was trying to help with.

on the auto power thing. you could say c2d is like a turo diesel
they make say 200 hp and 600lbs of torque and you can oc them
with a computer to make 250hp and 900lbs of torque 😀

Or how about this?Theyre geared differently, the one being slower clocked is MUCH higher geared, the other clocked higher, tho with MUCH smaller gears. With a better gear ratio you CAN get more out of something that turns slower IF it has the power to do so

Quite so. The XP has stock gearing for an uphill and down hill course and a Core 2 has rally gears tuned for the track.

Sorry, you'll have to get DDR2. What you choose was DDR. Totally incompatible with the board and a bad match for the Core 2. You & your friend will have to suck it up and shell out money for good RAM. Never, skimp on the RAM.
Do you need a suggestion for that also?

H.P. is more important for top speed, torque is more important for acceleration.

Actually, the same exact car, but in AWD versus RWD...the RWD would be better. The extra weight, and rotational/frictional losses from the extra drives would consume more H.P. In other words, less horsepower would get to the ground.

Cars with AWD usually have more torque than those with RWD

if they had the same engine and power output the awd would/should
accelorate faster because of more power to the ground
given they were the same weight

like we were trying to explain to redtiger on the clockspeed thing
