[SOLVED] Making a Pcie 4x extender shorter

I bought a PCIe x4 extender for my capture card because my graphics card is too big. The extender fits perfectly and doesn't block the GPU, but it's too big and I was wondering is it ok to unsolder the ends cut it, and then solder it back up?

I've soldered a new usb type c port on a Nintendo switch and it work perfectly

I think the harder problem is to cleanly strip the 40 or so wires in that cable. The manufacturer has special stripping and tinning hardware.
