so i have an old hdd (from my laptop) that i wanna use as a secondary hard drive for my new pc, as for my new pc im using a ssd as the primary. How do i do it? all ive done is connected the hdd to power supply and motherboard

Solution
Ignore comment about activation. That would be necessary only, if you wanted to boot from HDD.

You have to assign drive letter to partitions on HDD. If there are no partitions, you'd have to make them first.
If there are partitions already and you just want to use it for storage, then maybe format those partitions (if there are no important files left).

how do i activate it in disk management?

there are 2 paritions one is a primary parition and the other with 351mb allocated space, i cant delete teh 351mb parition. What do i do? {to use it as secondary storage)

Can you post screenshot from Disk Management? (upload to imgur.com or tinypic.com)

Do you have any important data on those HDD partitions?
If yes - then copy important data elsewhere and format large partition.

Ignore the small one. To delete that one you'd need to use diskpart utility.

i was able to do it. this is what it should look like right? https://imgur.com/a/A4gsC ( C: is my ssd and D: is my hdd/secondary storage)
