Malwarebytes takes long to scan, and consumes all my memory?

Hi, I am new here.

I heard this is great product, and I installed it yesterday.

Last night I made custom scan, which would scan my:

- Local Disk C (80 used / 227 free) GigaBytes

- Local Disk D (353 used / 227 free) Gygabytes

The scan itself was running around 8h, and than my Windows 10 x64, which is installed on Dell laptop with 4gb ram, says:"Low on Virtual memory".

Malwarebytes were showing like it is still scanning, but just one file, and it were not actually responding, and I was keeping on getting "Low on Virtual memory" pop ups by Windows.

Is this normal for Malwarebytes to consume so much RAM, or something else is wrong with my computer?

Malwarbytes shouldn't take up all your memory though just to double check, open up Task Manager and take note of the resource usage when system is idle. If it's above say 50% then you have an OS corruption. If the resource usage is abnormal as stated prior, you will need to perform a repair install. It's also a good idea to see if your BIOS is up to date.

Mind sharing your Dell laptop's SKU/model number?

As you can see, there is task manager, malwarebytes using the most, and it is already pagging on disk probably, as it is 88%.
Without malwarebytes, when iddle its about 50% to 60% ram usage.
Even thought math will give that maybe 1.5GB ram is used if gathering all in task manager, but windows is caching, so i assume malwarebytes is to blame for all caching of memory.

Why are you using Custom Scan? Of course it will use a lot of Memory if its a first scan. You want to get to the gist of your computer, right? I have never had to use the Custom Scan as a normal scan has been great for me. I have been using Malwarebytes for years and has never failed me. How long does it take for a normal scan? Threat Scan is all you need unless you have a problem.

If you think you have a problem I would suggest trying Adware Cleaner. Another free product from Malwarebytes. You will find it on their page.
