[SOLVED] Manually adjusting screen size

I just bought an Optiplex 790 and I use my tv as a monitor. I need to adjust my screen size as it is too large, not by adjusting resolution, I tried that, rather manually adjusting height and width. I have done it in the past, but forgot how and just going in circles now. And thanks!

I only know how to do this in the Nvidia control panel, but hopefully this helps.
in the control panel
Adjust desktop size and position>Size>Enable desktop resizing>Resize
and you should be able to do as you wish from there.

Thanks siaan. As I think back on it I too had Nvidia, but now just the basic intel on board graphics. This thing is tough, and thanks for trying to help me.

Usually this is a TV problem, not a computer problem. Look at your TV's menu system and see if there are any size settings. On my old Samsung, there's a size setting for each hdmi input and I can just select the one where the desktop fills the screen.
