Maybe this is more regular on this site, but this is the first time I've seen a direct image quality test between AMD and Nvidia in a modern game. I have once thought there was a difference myself, independently of anyone suggesting it.

They look about the same, and it is probably nothing, but is it only me or is there if anything only an advantage on AMD's side?

The frustrating thing is that it always seems to be AMD (even if the whole thing remains in doubt). The image is clearer, better defined, "visible" in the light reflection on the ground in the second image... Or in the sharper cloud texture.

I'd buy anyone saying it is an illusion, but I wonder if that "illusion" ever happens on Nvidia's side. And regardless...

This article is a joke? Where's the 2K and 4K resolutions benchmarks? Where's the 1080s? Lame! Waste of time. 1080p with mid range cards only, wtf!?

It's possible there could be slight differences, due to different anti-aliasing or anisotropic filtering implementations or something. It used to be that there would sometimes be more noticeable differences in those sorts of things, but in recent years the rendering quality between the two GPU manufactures has been rather close, aside from cases where features specific to one card or another are implemented. It's also sometimes that case that drivers get "optimized" for certain games, which sometimes involves degrading image quality in that game for a boost in performance. Unfortunately, Tom's has these images compressed as Jpeg, so if you're trying to look at pixel-level details up close, artifacts will make it hard to distinguish much. It might be nice if they provided links to lossless PNG versions of the images. Another thing to keep in mind though, is that the scene could potentially change a bit each time it is loaded, even on the same card. Wind might blow a tree's leaves differently in one screenshot, or clouds or other objects could move or otherwise change a little.

4K res, everything set to max, 60 smooth fps... thank you very much. And I have noticed only two glitches in the game so far which has been clipping errors. That's all. Otherwise it's butter smooth, looks great and plays great.

Thanks.

In the conclusion why didn't you mention the GTX 970 along side the RX 480 and GTX 1060 3gb at being capable at playing the game at 1080p on high preset? I just find that strange, since you tested it and talked about it on the test page and lets not forget that it actually performs better(max frames) than the GTX 1060 3gb on the high preset.
