Hello. So i upgraded from a 5 year old 750ti to 1650 super one week ago and since then the cpu usage is sky high in all games and stuck at 100%. In almost every single game.
Destiny 2, Cod mw 2019. bf1, bf V, r6...
It's causing fps drops and even bottlenecks the gpu in battlefield games. I'm having my cpu stuck at 100% and vga at 50-60% and there is just 10fps difference between low and ultra on bf1 and bf V.

When playing MW2019 tho, he pc is under so much pressure that it starts to stutter and lag for 2-3 mins straight. While this is happening, i can't hear anyone on discord, and i can't talk myself. Cpu is under complete pressure. Sometimes im so unlucky that i don't even get to see the gameplay, i either get stuck on the loading screen and have to Alt+F4 or face a transmission error after 3 mins waiting on a freezed loading screen. Overall, it feels like im playing with a old pentium rather than a 8th generation 4core cpu.
I know that it should reach 80-100% on some games. But this is unbearable.
I reinstalled my windows and all drivers as soon as i installed the 1650 super, so that option is off the board.
Any ideas?

Gpu: Msi ventus gtx 1650 super oc
Cpu: i3 8100 3.6
Ram: 16GB (1x 16384MB) G.Skill Aegis DDR4-2400 DIMM CL15-15-15-35 Single

First of all an i3 8100 is very weak.
Did you check if your temps are fine on the CPU and GPU?

If your temps are normal, there is nothing you can do other than upgrading to a better CPU like an i7.

You have an i3 which is a 4core 4thread cpu and it bottlenecks the gtx 1060 especially when it is also overclocked, i recommend a new cpu, the ryzen 7 2700 costs about 150$ and is a pretty darn good one. i have it paired with an rx 5700 and i can play destiny 2 and battlefield 1/v on ultra no problem :)

I had an 9th gen i3 9100F for a while, when my i9 had to be RMA'ed.

I ran the i3 9100F with everything else in my signature, and it was really struggeling with Battlefield V. Destiny 2 wasn't too bad, but other games really put a strain on the i3.

I think what you are experiencing now, is your CPU bottlenecking the increased graphics proccessing power of your new GPU. Perhaps your old card and your i3 were a better match performancewise.

If you are also running Discord and whatever apps you have running, the low core count of your current i3 will be a limiting factor as well.

Also I see that you are running single channel memory instead of dual channel that also has a huge impact on games performance.

Just like "Zizo007" said Running in single-channel mode is having an impact also. if I were you I would consider getting a new mobo like the b450 with AM4 support and the ryzen 7 2700/x and another stick of the same kind of ram and overclock with XMP profile or get a new set of 2x8gb corsair vengeance and OC to 3200 MHz, that will make the CPU work like a charm :)

Thank you guys :)
Guess i have to aim for a new cpu then.
Peace✌

One thing tho. I understand the weakness of this CPU. But then i watch some benchmarks on youtube and i ask myself, should mine be really THIS broken and bad?
i mean mw 2019 requires atleast an i3-4340 or FX-6300( based on minimum requirements).
now if my 8100 is struggling this much to run the game and trying not to face game crash, then i3 4340 is not gonna be able to run the game at all! Doesn't that make sense?
The temperatures are all actually very good, being at 50-60.
I was reading an article on internet about the best mw 2019 visibility settings. surprisingly enough the test pc had the i3 8100 paired with a 1050ti which was working not perfectly, but not as bad as mine
i mean i can't even play bf1 and bf v anymore. the amount of fps drops have made them both unplayable no matter on what graphics i set them.

Does the single stick ram make such a big difference?
What would be the best budget friendly way to get to a decent cpu? ( aiming for 80fps+ on normal/low settings)

Start by using dual channel either by buying a 2x8Gb kit or adding a second module. Its not recommended to add non-matched RAMs together.
