Max psu that wont fry my motherboard

I have a mcp61sm-am and I was looking in putting a 800w power supply in it and am concerned if it would fry my pc

It wouldn't fry it at all. You can use whatever PSU you want, being too powerful is not a problem, as if the computer doesn't require that much power, the PSU would simply work at a 5-10% usage rate.

Well it depends on the PSU line.
There aren't many quality units with 800W

A low tier unit might fry your system no matter if it.got 150W or 1500W
