Hello my HD MAXTOR STM3320614AS 320GB DiamondMax 22 was conected with external adapter USB with power adapter trouble and very hot almost 1 minute long.

This HD aparently is dead with strong smoke smell burned, after detached PCB and identify one component, aparently is an DIODE carbonized (like my barbecue on sunday morning).

I upload a picture of burial to whom it may concern and please give me a little help to back my data, tanks a lot.

You have a problem. Options are, 1. send out to a recovery company, can be hundreds of $$$. 2. An "exactly" identical drive can subtitute the controller board on the drive, difficult to get and not garranteed to work.
