Are they even needed? A purchase of new ram a few months ago got me two for free, and while I never installed them I can't help but ponder it.

Would I see any improvements in terms of case airflow? Would it hurt? Also, I bought my ram in part due to the spiffy LED's on them, anyone know if the lights would shine through even though the fan would essentially cover them up?

Thanks!

Ram dosn't even need heatspreaders. Only in situtions where you are overclocking your RAM super high with extra volts would you need any kind of cooling at all.

That being said, RAM heatspreaders, heatsinks, and fans look mighty sexy... ;-)

No, since the fans are spinning fast you will be able to see "through" them, and the LEDs will shine through.

Agree 100% ^.

Just for looks, OK. Other than that, no need for it.
