:?: Currently I have a AMD Athlon 3200 Venice CPU 939 Socket on an ASUS A8N-SLI Mobo, Geil Value PC3200 DDR 2x 1gb RAM, 2x 7600 GT OC BFG Vid's, 1x 80gb HD, 2x 200gb HD's & OCZ ModStream Pwr Sply. I'm running XP Pro and I just changed my antivirus from Norton to ZoneAlarm. I have ZoneAlarm firewall, Windows Defender, Error Nuker, AdAware & Spybot. I had recently installed StarDock Object Desktop. I am looking into upgrading from 2gb of RAM to 4gb of RAM. I am curious on which memory to upgrade with. Can I choose a different brand memory or go with Geil again? :?:

you can choose a different brand if you want, it won't incur any errors or issues or incompatibilities, as long it is spec'd correctly, however i *would* buy geil memory again though, because they are cheap, good and have a nice warranty.

I was thinking the same thing. I was also thinking about upgrading the pwr supply and cpu, but it's best I wait a while for that.

You need to check and see if your system will handle the extra ram. A lot of people that upgraded to 4 gig are saying their system will only recognize 3 gig (win xp shortcoming?). I am not completly sure what the issue is, but do not spend your money until you know for sure.

win xp 32 bit will not recognise 4 GB of RAM. this has to do with the memory addressing problems.
you'll need to upgrade to the xp 64 bit or bista 64 bit.

Wow! I don't mind if the system only recognizes 3.5gb of memory instead of 4gb. I did contact the manufacturer and explained my system and they replied with the system will read 3.4-3.5gb of memory. Which is fine for me. I am just looking for a little more memory.
