Memory for i7 920

Which memory is compatible with an i7 920 D0 processor?
I've bought a Corsair 1600 MHz DDR3 and my computer does not POST at all. I've been told that not all memories works with i7 920.
Can you help please?

the problem is not the cpu. The compatibility problem is between the memory modules and the motherboard. Anyway, Corsair is the best memory brand so I think that the problem is not the compatibility.
Please, tell me which your motherboard is.
When you turn on on the computer, during the post, ¿Does the computer tell you that you don't have any memory installed?

Hi Henry,
The motherboard is an ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 iX58 Socket 1366.
I saw the Motherboard manual and the memory that I've bought is there so I don't understand.
I've installed the power, the memory, the CPU and the graphic card only to test.
When I start the computer there is nothing on the screen it does not show anything on the screen. I don't have any beep either from the mobo.
The memory is Corsair 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 1600MHz XMS3 Dominator Memory CL8(8-8-8--24)

I can understand that you can turn on the computer, therefore the psu is ok.
The mobo is a very good one and Asus an amazing manufacturer, but, sometimes, the motherboard doesn't work properly. I think that the problem is in the motherboard, because if the problem was in the memory, cpu, gpu,... there would be beeps.

The problem is that I've already returned the mobo to the seller and they've tested and send it back to me reporting that there was no problem with the mobo and it POST without problems and they even run other tests as well.
When I've called again asking to test the processor they've told me that it is not possible because these processors are very reliable and it only should be that the memory does not work with the processor.
I haven't been able just yet to check if my memory is compatible with the i7 the only thing that I've found so far that is for memories over 1066 MHz will be downgraded to 1066 MHz.

That particular memory should work fine with an i7-920, and should run at 800mhz (DDR3-1600) without any problems.

With i3/i5/i7 chips the memory controller is actually on the CPU, not the northbridge, so it is unlikely that the motherboard would have anything to do with it.

Is this a new build? Or did it work with different memory before?

I'd suspect bad memory. Try running it with just one memory stick.

Yes, You are right. With i3/i5/i7 chips the memory controller is actually on the CPU, not the northbridge. But the motherboard has a lot to say about compatibility. Just take a look, for example, the Gskill web. There is a Qualified Motherboards List for each memory type.

It is a new build and I'm getting frustrated because of not getting anything at all on the monitor.
I'll try with two memory sticks because the manual didn't says if you can put only one and in which position.
I'll try it with one.

Make sure you put the 3 sticks into the correct slots - with X58 motherboards you actually put the sticks into the slots further away from the CPU this time (i.e. when you put the RAM into slots 1, 3 and 5 you'll have an empty one next to the CPU).
