Memory overclocking on Intel H370 based motherboards

Can the Intel H370 based motherboards overclock memory?

For example:
If I've installed DDR4 2133 memory for a Core i5/i7 8th Gen processor, can the memory be overclocked to 2666 MHz that these processors support?

If yes, are there any examples of motherboards that can do this?

H370 motherboards are only a notch below Z370, and perfect for people who don’t like to tinker. These boards don’t support overclocking, multiple graphics card setups, or some of the more exotic Intel Rapid Storage Technology features. Other than those niche enthusiast features, and some differences in USB 3.1 support, H370 largely mirrors Z370.

But pretty much every H370 should do that, as long as you put CPU that allows 2666 speed (any 8th gen i5 or i7).

Now that is a bit different question. You would have to look through motherboard manuals to see if given model allows more RAM control then just a basic enable/disable XMP (because that will not help you in this situation). But most likely you will not find such motherboard, at least I'm not aware of any allowing this.

It should manually let you adjust the settings so yes.

Has anyone seen this in action? Any H370 owners here with a lower clocked memory module overclocked to 2400 or 2666 MHz?

I came across (this) in the review of a Gigabyte AORUS H370 board that says:

Our Core i3-8350K CPU is limited to DDR4-2400, but H370 places its own data-rate limit of DDR4-2666 when used with higher-model processors. Those with slower memory can still overclock to the CPU or chipset limit, and even optimize latency for quicker response times after reaching those limits.

So, it looks like it is possible. Then again, I'm not sure if that's possible on less featured motherboards based on the H370 chipset.

you are all assuming the 2133 mhz ram he bough can even be pushed beyond that speed at all.
normally if you want 2666 you get 2666 ram.
just my two cents worth.

suggest the OP gets familiar with the methods to reset his cmos because incorrect setting will have a non booting system on his hands.

That was not the question.
For the price of the H370 board I would just buy a budget Z370 and be able to do whatever.
