Hi All,

Just put together my first build last night

q9300
Asus p5q-pro
4gigs of geil ram ddr2 pc6400 800mhz
2x seagate barracuda 500gig drives in raid 0

my question is this, although i managed to adjust the settings of the cpu so it is running at the constant 2.5ghz cpu-z seems to tell me my memory is 400mhz when its meant to be 800, will this matter?

The memory Tab says:

Type DDR3 (?)
Size 4096 mbytes
Channels Dual
DC mode Symetric
DRAM freq 417mhz

SPD tab says:

slot 1 ddr2
max bandwidth pc2-6400 (400mhz)

Yep, was just about to say the same thing... badge beat me. Actually, if CPU-Z says your DRAM freq is 417Mhz, your RAM is running at 834Mhz. However, your RAM is running at is advertised speed. No need to worry man.

sweet! Thanks guys, it was running at 517 before so its probably good i changed some settings, dont wanna heat it up too much.

Well again thanks, the new build is courtesy of reading these forums alot and taking the leap and doing a homebuild! I love it...so much faster than the p4 3ghz i was using :O

lol i bet it is faster... hey man, if the RAM overclocks, go for it. 500Mhz shouldn't be too much for that RAM I wouldn't think. I'd just google your RAM and see what speeds other people have been getting out of it and what stability they had with those speeds.
