Memory Reading Incorrectly in BIOS

Hey All!

In the midst of making some serious upgrades to my rig (for the first time - I had bought a custom build from a friend a few years ago) and I noticed something upon entering my BIOS for the first time. It appears that it is recognizing my RAM incorrectly. I re checked my purchase order and the labels on both the packaging and sticks themselves and they read correctly as DDR4 3200, but my ASUS BIOS is reading them as DDR4 2133. This seems odd to me and I'm wondering if something can be done to fix it. Also, I'd like a verification that I installed these correctly on my motherboard. I read through the manual and I believe it to be correct, I just want to make sure.

This is my first time starting up BIOS so I haven't put any new drivers in it or anything so perhaps that is the simple issue. I just want to make sure that I didn't in fact receive the wrong memory before I proceed.

RAM: 2x8gb G Skill Ripjaws V Series DDR4 3200
Processor: Intel i7 6700k Quad Core 4 ghz
CPU Cooler: Cryorig h7
Storage: 1x500gb Samsung SSG, 1x1TB Hitachi HDD
Optical Drive: Asus DVD Drive
Rosewill Internal Card Reader

Sorry about the belated response. Things have been quite busy and it's been hard to get back at upgrading my rig. But I'm back at it! I took your advice and got CPU-Z but my problem is still persisting.

I looked around tom's forums for related issues and found out about enabling XMP in the AI tweaker section under advance BIOS. This was the solution to many people's problems which were similar to mine. I went ahead and enabled it which led me to this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/6utym2mskn273ru/IMG_20151106_154028854.jpg?dl=0
I thought this looked right, but when I went back to my BIOS homescreen, DRAM status was still reading at 2133, not 3200 (https://www.dropbox.com/s/9r1eouazey42itf/IMG_20151106_154015174.jpg?dl=0) I figured a restart might change this, but when I did I was slapped with an error message stating that overclocking failed (https://www.dropbox.com/home/Public?preview=IMG_20151106_154507203.jpg) So I went back and disabled everything I had done.

So it appears that my computer does not want to run my RAM at it's full speed. Do you know of any solutions?

So I looked up my BIOS version (ASUS Z170-A mobo) and it's 0502. On the Asus website there have been 6 updates since then so I'm assuming this is the cause of my problem. However, I've also heard that flashing BIOS can be very dangerous to a system and can completely ruin it. Can you shed some light on the risk involved?

I've also seen 3 or 4 different methods from reading through the forums here so I'd like to know which method you think is the best so I don't put my system at risk.

Yeah I have seen some suspicion around updating through Windows using EZ update. My mobo manual describes in detail how to update using EZ flash 3 and a USB drive. do you think this is the best method? I reaaaaallly don't want to screw this up.

P.S. I read somewhere that if overclocking is enabled, bios updates can fail. I haven't purposefully enabled any overclocking yet but I am unsure if these things happen automatically or not. Is there somewhere I can reset everything to normal or does it not matter?

Just went through the bios update and it said it updated successfully and then restarted itself a few times to finish the install. It then booted and showed me the Asus splash screen which I assume to mean that the install is finished. And now I'm left at this screen. I attempted to press f1 to enter setup but it appears that my keyboard is not working. Fearing that the bios is still updating in the background I have not done anything further, I am remaining on this screen. Is it safe for me to manually restart my computer so that hopefully my keyboard is working again so I can enter my BIOS and turn off the anti surge?

I rebooted and my keyboard lit up during the splash screen. I try to enter BIOS but the anti-surge screen came up and my keyboard is off again. So I am unable to run setup as it is telling me to do.

I was able to get the keyboard working if I unplugged and plugged it in during the boot up on a splash screen. So the BIOS install worked but my RAM. is still reading incorrectly. I went into BIOS and enabled XMP and set it to ddr4 3200 but here's what I end up with:https://www.dropbox.com/s/kehxixx6t00pggu/IMG_20151108_201447576.jpg?dl=0
