Memtest Errors in My System

You know, it could have been something as simple as a bit of dust in the DIMM slot. Since you've now taken everything out and reinstalled it into presumably clean slots, that may have fixed it.
As for your app tests under Windows: just skip those and run Orthos instead. It'll stress your CPU and RAM (close) to the max. If you can run that fine for a couple of hours, I think your system is OK.

Yea, I could run Orthos but that would leave my PC unusable for fun
this was is a lot more fun, heck im watching Bond a View to a Kill, never seen it yet

I heart Bond 😳

Yes, Walken makes a good archenemy, and the aerial struggle scenes are pretty cool. The bad guys' planned catastrophe is pretty hokey IMHO.

If you want some fun shows to watch, UK's Top Gear is excellent (see www.finalgear.com).

omg reading your short response brought tears to my eyes
I love the whole bond thing and walken and moore and mayday are playing their Bond acts SUPERBLY

i really have a thing for bond, if I ever get my hands on Albert Broccoli 😉
hes the director of most of the great bonds

waaay OT but my sys is going great with the old ram and all

Hey just an update: been screwing around, aim, azureus, firefox, wmp
not a hitch... but i tried my kb and mouse on the lappy that im typing this on and they are deader than James Bond's Wife

all is looking good, at the end of the movie (30min) ill start FEAR
I never knew how good it was to have 2pcs on the same desk

ahh the convenience

ok im turning off the lappy now

movie is coming to an end I plan to run FEAR

then for the rest of the night while i sleep i will do:

old/new/old/new

before that testing im running my old GIG

I take what you said very seriously, and from you, as a great compliment.
I hope that as a result of this situation I will gain some measure of respect in this forum. I just want to say here that I am 17 years old, a senior in high school. 2 years ago I knew about the same amount about computers as the average joe on the street which would be umm... CPU, RAM, Hard Drive, i guess I know what they do. Heck the year before that I was unsure if a PC had a video card as well as a graphics card, or was it just a video card 😉. Now that's classic.
As a response to your labeling of my posts as articulate, I would argue. This exact post is quite articulate, but the thread in general is not. For many of the posts on this thread I was a nervous frantic wreck with no hope in sight. Just check out the first page.

About what you said about the 4th ram slot , I dunno 😉

I ran both sn92 and sn93 new DIMMS in the 4th slot for 45 min and 65min respectively, or something of the sort. I think that knocks out the idea that the 4th slot has its own issue. I said before about the testing I will attempt to do tonight. If there ARE issues i.e. errors I would assume that it will be due to either my computer's i.e. motherboard's issues with running 4 DIMMS at once, or the NEW ram's issues with running in that configuration. Either way, if it does give errors, the ram will probably go for a Newegg RMA.

Well I seem to remember wanting to add something, but in the time it took me to type this post so far I've forgotten it.

I am just annoyed now that I am forced to use a Dell PS2 mouse as I cannot seem to find my good old Microsoft Intellimouse that is old, but reliable. Perhaps someone 'borrowed it'

Okay now, I have decided not to try F.E.A.R. tonight. I uninstalled 3dmark 05 and 06 and will reinstall 05 and attempt to run it. I then plan to do tonight's previously stated memory tests.

Goodnight to you all, and a Merry Life this is

I am so glad you are still on.

All that I did was uninstall 3dmark 05 and 06 and reinstall 05

I double clicked on the shortcut and well, by now its 12min later and I didnt touch the PC since except to go to the task manager to see if it said that 3d wasnt responding. Still now, it says its running fine and the fans on my PC are on full. I can hear my HD whirring and its activity light is blinking.

The beginning 3dmark logo is still up though after nearly 15min.

I would love some help

A short update:
I did end task for the 3dmark, it replied that it wasnt responding, and it then shut down. I clicked on the icon again just as I did on friday to see what would happen.

Well according to how I interpret your last post, you havent really read my whole accounting. Ive tested every module out as well as every slot, to the extent that I can say with 99% confidence that all of the RAM is fine alone as well as all of the slots.

I still will try the big memtest again, however if it gives errors Ill worry about it then

any ideas on 3dmarks odd behavior?

I write this with sadness in my heart.
I could not shut down 3dmark05 as hard as I tried. Before I touched it though, task manager recognized it as being unresponding. After restarting memtest began, I quit it out and got to the 1st windows screen the user chooser.

Mouse moved to the user name, then abruptly stopped.

I restarted then rushed to type this.

What more can I say?

Hey after restarting the KB and mouse work fine. It is important to note though that it is the kb and mouse that gave up there. Both running off of PS2.

You can tell when something is going wrong by the frequency of my posting.

UPDATE: IM NOT GONNA DO MEMTEST, instead ORTHOS for as long as I can tolerate it :?

Do you have CPU-Z yet?

I'd put 1 set in at a time and get the 4 timings each set produces. Compare the numbers. Set the timings in BIOS to the loosest reading you get. That should solve the problem. I really believe you've got mismatched sets and the mobo doesn't know which timings to set. Try bumping the dimm voltage up 0.1v too.

naaah trust me after that much time on the left alone. I did check the processes, who do you take me for :)
Nothing at all was taking up anything significant. Just sound like my PC suddenly (as of this past Friday) dislikes the 3dmark series.

This most probably shows a more deeply embedded issue though with most probably software, and most horrifyingly drivers.

I did test with the same software and drivers on Thursday night (upgrade night) but it worked like a charm.

Dont know about anything, I dl'ed Orthos but I dont know what settings to run it on for all night.

response to verndewd asking about malware and the such
:
Have you read my BIG POST in which in the middle of and at the very beginning I note that my PC did have a trojan warning pop up at a time. Read the big one for more info please?

I now use :
Zone alarm free
AVG free
spybot s&d
ad-aware
Spyware blaster
i cant think of any more now, the newest though is spyware blaster. Ill do the basic checks now: spybot and ad-aware
AVG takes HOURS to do, ive got better uses for my CPU power

about 3dmark i say as b4 most probably the software's fault, just throwing blame around

ive got to go to sleep

I ran spybot s and d's scan, is it bad that for months every scan just scans the bookmarks and areas of the internet browsers installed and hasnt found an issue in mos?

I ran adware's smart scan for a min or two it found a little tracking cookie. I have no time to do more
I ran the Malicious software tool's quick scan which detected nada.

I will run orthos on the default Blend settings unless otherwise instructed
I will go to sleep in 6 min no matter what.

gnight

yu have some resource problems if 05 will not work, drivers or whatever`.
I am feeling a hardware driver to be honest.something is distracting the execution of 05.

blah blah i apoligize for my attitude but i gtg to go to sleep

just to add: i do have a folder that wont delete that held 3 torrent folders with cracks and serials in them from the day b4 the upgrade when i was looking for a 3d05 key. I tried unlocker but no dice
scans with malicious and AVg show nothing bad

I havent started ORTHOS yet, but im about to.. on the default blend settings.

I can leave this on without annoyance until 130 PM tomorrow

reasons withheld

should I run orthos as is now?

reply with swiftness please

Disk check being? My hard drive is very well defragged, as well as my MFT and Drive Boot Thangy. I havent done a full virus scan for malware in a week or two though.

Othos is runninng fine after 3:24, gonna let it be. I checked the task manager: its talking up 100percentCPU and 900mb or so of RAM.

Why I think 3dmark wont open: Its looking for sys config then right? 05 doesnt go outright and say it, but 06 does. It either cannot find or there has been an error with some file on my PC that holds a written form of my PC's current hardware configuration. Either that or, say, my GFX drivers arent showing up properly to the checker because of my sloppy install.

Please check my big post for most of the info on what has gone on so far.
My plan after letting Orthos sit for a while is to get a similar sysconfig check going. I believe in my EA Games folder. EA has a sysconfig checker that is usually slow and annoying.

Ive got to go to school, but I will be available at or around 1:30PM. I'll write back then.

My internet connection is quite the crappy one, It only can do max: 86 down. I downloaded 3dmark05 at school and 06 from a torrent. My router also sucks something horrible, and is almost never running without a hitch. I did get a new router in the same newegg box as everything else but havent had a chance to open it for obvious reasons.

I will run chkdisk although I must say, I have run it twice in the past month or two with no errors.

just use prime95 for sucking up all your ram, a blend test takes up my entire 2gb for testing

If you would read a short while before, you would see that I have not tested with all 2gb, all 4 DIMMS at once since Thursday Night, the night of the 11 errors.

Im sticking to trying to solve this issue with the 1gb of old ram, so that it can escape blame for any issues encountered forthwith.

I am planning to attempt to run EAsy Info, in fact here is goes. Ok then that is good news. It runs just fine, starting up extremely fast, and recognizing the 1gb of old ram as well as the 7900gs and Sound Card.

That is excellent news, I will be waiting for any comments aside from more RAM testing, I think I have cleared my Old RAM, and PSU from any possible blame, as well as the new RAM, for it is not in my system.

THE END for now

I have run several EAsy infos in the meantime

All EA Games games come with a utility for checking sys config. The games by EA Games that I have on my system are and the results that I got from testing each:

Battlefield 2: all is good, started up and recognized it all

Battlefield 1942 the Road to Rome: all is good, started up and recognized it all

Command and Conquer Generals:all is good, started up and recognized it all

Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour:all is good, started up and recognized it all

Need For Speed Underground 2*: Problematic as told in pictures:

what this means I do not know

EAsyinfowindowserror.jpg

this is looking fishier by the minute

Now I simply must add here that this programs was dl'ed by a friend and given to me with cracks, keygens and all. Unfortunately, several months ago it refused to start, I believe saying that the CD was not in the drive, hinting that the CD Crack failed, or the game files were corrupted in some way.

I do not know what these errors mean but they very well might lead us all to my actual issue.

NOTE TO ALL READING THIS POST: I wrote a full encounting of all gone on until its point on page4 called 'the big one', you cannot miss it. I would greatly appreciate it if everyone who wants to help out, that they read that post.

Gday
